Apple explains how to fix its busted iOS 8 update, new one coming soon

Went ahead and downloaded the newest, freshest version of iOS for that new iPhone 6? Then immediately regret doing so? Apple's released a statement saying that users who have lost carrier service or Touch ID functionality should reinstall the initial version of iOS 8, until version 8.0.2 is ready to go. The company says this will take a few more days. We've got the full statement after the break.

"We have a workaround for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1. Affected users can reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes, for more information visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6487. We apologize for the great inconvenience experienced by users, and are working around the clock to prepare iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it is ready in the next few days." LG's G3 and G Watch are coming to AT&T on July 11th

Sprint and T-Mobile may have been the first big US carriers to announce launch plans for LG's G3 smartphone, but they won't be the first to actually carry it. AT&T has revealed that both the G3 and the Android Wear-based G Watch will reach its stores on July 11th, with online orders beginning on the 8th. In both cases, pricing is par for the course. You'll pay $199 on contract for the G3, or $29 per month in one year's worth of Next installments; the G Watch will cost you $229 up front. The AT&T-native G3 doesn't particularly stand out (unless you really, really like Big Blue's logo), but it may be your best bet if you just have to get a quad HD-capable Android phone as quickly as possible.

A new Trapper Keeper is coming this September, and it's built for tablets

For some, each new school year brought a about a specific kind of dilemma. No, we aren't talking about picking out what to wear on the first day, we mean choosing a new Trapper Keeper. To stoke those flames of indecision and nostalgia, the folks at Kensington have teamed up with Mead, the team behind the original Trapper, and Pee Chee to bring you a line of cases that likely fit whatever 7-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch tablet you may have. The cases come in a handful of designs straight from the '80s, and they're sure induce flashbacks of scratching the name of last week's crush off the front of your catch-all binder. Perhaps even better, they're priced between $25 and $30 and start shipping this September. Fingers are crossed that these take off and we get a sweet Lisa Frank collection next -- with Velcro flaps!

Breaking Bad in 4K coming to Netflix in June

Curious to watch all of the grisly deaths in Breaking Bad
, but in a higher resolution? You've only got a month or so to wait, as Netflix has confirmed that it'll begin streaming the show in 4K and Dolby 5.1 at some point in June. The company also affirmed its commitment to screening all of its original shows in 4K, and is also currently experimenting with DVD-style extras. At present, tests are being carried out on Behind the Bars, a series of branching interviews with the cast of Orange is the New Black which will could in and out of the episodes when required. That said, the feature may not be ready for our second trip to federal prison, which begins on June 6th.

Quietly mentioned inside Sky's financial report for this quarter, the broadcaster has revealed that two of its streaming services will arrive on the PlayStation 4 in just a few months. Details are scant (it just says what we've written above), but both Sky Go (for existing Sky subscribers) and the more free-and-loose Now TV will both debut on the Sony console. They'll have a fight on their hands: they'll be up against the likes of Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. Sky also announced that it's renewed its movie deal with Paramount, giving it exclusive broadcast rights to the likes of Anchorman 2 and Noah. So, not even a mention of the Xbox One -- but at least that console's doing its own thing.

Update: Sky has issued a fuller press release which also mentions that Sky Go will find its way to PS3 owners (who've so far only had access to Now TV on their consoles).

HTC-made Nexus 8 reportedly coming this summer

When it comes to producing affordable Nexus tablets, Google's on a roll -- and it's looking to take advantage of that momentum. After partnering with ASUS on a 7-inch tablet each of the last two summers, the software giant is now reportedly working with HTC on an 8-inch version slated to launch in the third quarter of this year. The report comes to us from hit-and-miss DigiTimes, which tells us that Google is switching to HTC because it wants to push a new design, and ASUS is more interested in selling tablets and phones under its own brand instead.

Unless you count the Google Play edition of the LG G Pad 8.3, this will be Google's first time offering a Nexus Android experience on an eight-inch tablet, and will be HTC's first shot at designing a device for the series since the Nexus One. It's also an interesting move by the Taiwanese company, which has recently expressed interest in penetrating more segments of the market in the hopes of getting its products in more hands. Of course, DigiTimes explains that Google may not be as aggressive in selling the Nexus 8 as it was with previous tablets; apparently the previous versions did well enough to encourage Android's penetration into the tablet market, and Nexus slates simply don't have as significant an influence as they once had.

Since I/O takes place the last week of the second quarter, it's uncertain if Google would use that opportunity to announce the device and officially release it later, but that's part of the magic of the show -- there's always a surprise or two.
