Love Facebook, but hate your friends endless invitations to play Farmville? You might not like the social network latest iPad update. According to the Facebook developer blog, the company is testing a new sidebar that users in landscape mode a sample of trending topics, videos and other content. Most of this data is pretty personalized--consisting of upcoming birthdays, events, holidays and recently played games, but there is also a special section reserved for advertising "popular" Facebook games. Fortunately, you are not guaranteed to see the last element right away: the column layout is based on individual use. If you don't have Facebook games, you will see may not be the ads for them.
According to a spokesman for Facebook, the app will always remain items such as birthdays or events above, but everything in the column moves around based on how you use the social network. If you watch a lot of video, for example, you will see a lot of trending videos on the top of the sidebar; If you're addicted to Facebook games will flush Windows Media Player's recently played the column titles and recommendations. Content not relevant to your interests would stick around Though--Facebook says non-gamers can expect the "Featured games" to life off-screen, available for users who scroll down to the bottom of the screen. The update is currently available only for a small percentage of test users, but Facebook plans for the sidebar to a permeant facet of the iPad experience.
